Feelings of the Season III

Feelings of the Season III brings together sculptures, objects, and paintings by both established and emerging artists represented by Galerie Urs Meile. Featured artists include Marion Baruch, Mirko Baselgia, Cai Dongdong, Chen Zuo, Hu Qingyan, Ju Ting, Urs Lüthi, Shao Fan, Rebekka Steiger, Julia Steiner, Wang Xingwei, and Wiedemann/Mettler. The exhibition, held in Ardez from December 27, 2024, to March 2, 2025, creates a space for the interplay of intuition, emotion, and reflection.

A key focus of the exhibition is the presentation of works by Spanish artist Antonio Ballester Moreno (*1977), impressively staged in the former cowshed of the Engadine house. Ballester Moreno’s works, characterized by simple forms and colors, reflect cycles of nature and symbols like the sun, trees, or water. His abstract paintings, collages, and ceramics draw from influences in craftsmanship, textiles, and African and Islamic art. His pieces range from landscapes to interactive museum concepts, challenging cultural institutions as societal spaces.

The works of Qiu Shihua (*1940) take center stage on the first floor of the house. Defying the principles of linear perspective, his pieces lack discernible centers or clear directions. His “white landscapes” reveal themselves only upon prolonged observation. Qiu considers his paintings as expressions of stillness and emptiness, encapsulating both existence and non-existence, resting quietly within themselves.
